What this body is

The Plano City Council is the city's governing body under a council-manager form of government: the Council sets policy (ordinances, budget, zoning appeals, contracts) and the City Manager runs day-to-day operations. It consists of the Mayor and seven council members (Places 1–8; Place 6 is Mayor). Residents deal with it on zoning appeals, the annual budget and tax rate, and any citywide ordinance.
